{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1762a","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 54-1762A","heading":"DRUG DONATION FOR ANIMALS.","body":"Notwithstanding any other provision of law:\n(1) An owner or a legal caretaker of an animal may donate a drug that is dispensed for the animal, but will not be used by that animal, to a licensed veterinarian of a veterinary medical facility, as that term is defined in section 54-2103, Idaho Code, if the veterinarian or facility chooses to accept the drug.\n(2) A licensed veterinarian or a veterinary medical facility may accept and reissue drugs donated pursuant to this section and from qualified donors listed in section 54-1704, Idaho Code, if:\n(a) The drug is not expired;\n(b) There is no reason to believe the drug has been adulterated;\n(c) The drug is not a controlled substance; and\n(d) The drug is not a compounded drug.\n(3) A licensed veterinarian or a veterinary medical facility may not resell the donated drug.\n(4) A licensed veterinarian or a veterinary medical facility may, however, reissue the donated drug, without charge, for proper administration to an animal by:\n(a) Another client of the veterinarian or facility who appears to be financially unable to pay for the drug;\n(b) A nonprofit animal shelter; or\n(c) A pound, as that term is defined in section 25-3502, Idaho Code.","path":["TITLE 54 PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS, AND BUSINESSES","CHAPTER 17 PHARMACISTS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title54/t54ch17/sect54-1762a/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T12:35:19Z","sha256":"c6c563c13108b9f1ce1a33e004e7e017734f8825f4a6dd68498aa811a9295a3b","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1762","next":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1764"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
