{"data":{"id":"us-il/105-ilcs-5-34-8.13","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"105 ILCS 5/34-8.13","heading":"Learning Zone designation principles.","body":"In performing its duties under this Law, the board shall be guided by the following additional principles:\n(1) Learning Zone designations should be effective for an initial period of no less than 3 and no more than 6 years;\n(2) Learning Zone designations should encompass clusters of attendance centers through joint application from secondary and feeder elementary schools or in other reasonably related clusters;\n(3) Learning Zone designations should encompass, in the aggregate, approximately 10% of the students enrolled in attendance centers within Chicago;\n(4) Learning Zone designations should, in the aggregate, be reflective of the racial and ethnic diversity and demography of students enrolled in attendance centers within Chicago;\n(5) Learning Zone designations should be fully operational commencing with the 1996-97 school year; and\n(6) Learning Zone designation renewals, revisions, and applications for additional waivers of statutes, regulations, rules, and policies should be evaluated in light of the goals of this Law.","path":["CHAPTER 105 SCHOOLS","School Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1005\u0026ChapterID=17\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:25Z","sha256":"19b4d54adfbe00448c647acaa1136cf6d9492cd56bba4cf1454b2d04535647ca","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/105-ilcs-5-34-8.12","next":"us-il/105-ilcs-5-34-8.14"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
