{"data":{"id":"us-il/110-ilcs-1010-5","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"110 ILCS 1010/5","heading":"Degrees by other than residence institutions.","body":"Any educational organization or entity which does not conduct instruction in residence may award degrees and qualify as a degree granting institution upon approval by the Board. Such approval shall be given only if the Board finds that the applicant, organization or entity:\n(1) maintains physical facilities suitable and sufficient to the giving of a program or programs of instruction of degree caliber in the field or fields wherein it proposes to grant degrees;\n(2) maintains a suitable and sufficient faculty for instruction in its degree granting program or programs;\n(3) maintains its student records in a safe and suitable place so that there is reasonable assurance that they are and will remain available for all normal purposes for a reasonable period of time;\n(4) maintains financial stability sufficient to carry out its obligations under the enrollment contracts;\n(4.5) maintains appropriate accreditation to provide educational programming; and\n(5) complies with all provisions of this Act other than the requirement for instruction in residence.","path":["CHAPTER 110 HIGHER EDUCATION","Academic Degree Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1174\u0026ChapterID=18\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:28Z","sha256":"c0fb7cbdb87b6166fb649307f55eb9c41d5482a0e26ca14f347a1bf9e0756905","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/110-ilcs-1010-4","next":"us-il/110-ilcs-1010-5.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
