{"data":{"id":"us-il/20-ilcs-1705-48.1","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"20 ILCS 1705/48.1","heading":"","body":"The Governor's Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities shall plan using the definition of developmental disabilities found in the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (Public Law 95-602), as amended. For current planning purposes, developmental disabilities is defined as a severe, chronic disability of a person which:\n(a) is attributable to a mental or physical impairment or combination of mental and physical impairments;\n(b) is manifested before the person attains age 22;\n(c) is likely to continue indefinitely;\n(d) results in substantial functional limitations in 3 or more of the following areas of major life activity: self care, receptive and expressive language, learning, mobility, self-direction, capacity for independent living and economic self-sufficiency; and\n(e) reflects the person's need for a combination and sequence of special interdisciplinary or generic care, treatment or other services which are of lifelong or extended duration and are individually planned and coordinated.","path":["CHAPTER 20 EXECUTIVE BRANCH","Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=313\u0026ChapterID=5\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:14Z","sha256":"59354e297995a41f010563ce1d9c7cc4d8690622311c51bdfa4507a35cb6417d","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/20-ilcs-1705-48","next":"us-il/20-ilcs-1705-50"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
