{"data":{"id":"us-il/20-ilcs-2635-2","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"20 ILCS 2635/2","heading":"Legislative Findings and Purposes.","body":"(A) The legislature finds and hereby declares that conviction information maintained by the Illinois State Police shall be publicly available in the State of Illinois.\n(B) The purpose of this Act is: (1) to establish uniform policy for gaining access to and disseminating conviction information maintained by the State of Illinois; (2) to establish guidelines and priorities which fully support effective law enforcement and ongoing criminal investigations and which ensure that conviction information is made accessible within appropriate time frames; (3) to ensure the accuracy and completeness of conviction information in the State of Illinois; and (4) to establish procedures for effectively correcting errors and providing individuals with redress of grievances in the event that inaccurate or incomplete information may be disseminated about them.","path":["CHAPTER 20 EXECUTIVE BRANCH","Illinois Uniform Conviction Information Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=351\u0026ChapterID=5\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:15Z","sha256":"f6d1c1f7c367e2b089c974fe7fcac869641501f24d171ba514e5fc9cc6ffc94c","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/20-ilcs-2635-1","next":"us-il/20-ilcs-2635-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
