{"data":{"id":"us-il/205-ilcs-731-20-70","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"205 ILCS 731/20-70","heading":"Civil penalties.","body":"(a) If a person other than a registrant has engaged, is engaging, or is about to engage in digital asset business activity with or on behalf of a resident in violation of this Act, the Department may assess a civil penalty against the person in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for each day the person is in violation of this Act.\n(b) If a person violates a provision of this Act, the Department may assess a civil penalty in an amount not to exceed $25,000 for each day of violation or for each act or omission in violation, except that a fine may be imposed not to exceed $75,000 for each day of violation or for each act or omission in violation related to fraud, misrepresentation, deceit, or negligence.\n(c) A civil penalty under this Section continues to accrue until the date the violation ceases.\n(d) A civil penalty under this Section is cumulative to any civil penalties enforceable by the Department under any other law.","path":["CHAPTER 205 FINANCIAL REGULATION","Digital Assets and Consumer Protection Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=4632\u0026ChapterID=20\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:29Z","sha256":"d8e3c2848ab9fab94133c6656cf4ab2617cc281bb2e09be8d2c92978d8791065","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/205-ilcs-731-20-65","next":"us-il/205-ilcs-731-20-75"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
