{"data":{"id":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-143.21e","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"215 ILCS 5/143.21e","heading":"Flood coverage; notice.","body":"(This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a delayed effective date)\n(a) Each insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this State a policy of fire and extended coverage that does not provide coverage for loss caused by flood shall provide to the insured a notice prescribed by the Director that explains clearly, conspicuously, and in plain language:\n(1) the policy does not provide coverage for loss caused by flood;\n(2) whether coverage for loss caused by flood is available to the applicant through the company; and\n(3) the availability of coverage for loss caused by flood through the National Flood Insurance Program, whether the company can write such coverage, and how to obtain coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program.\n(b) At the time of policy issuance, the company must obtain a written signature from the insured affirming the flood coverage options were presented to the applicant in plain language and that the applicant is declining coverage for loss caused by flood, if available through the company.","path":["CHAPTER 215 INSURANCE","Illinois Insurance Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1249\u0026ChapterID=22\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:30Z","sha256":"022c66128f2f9bffaa76921ecf1dd0b9cdfcb61a7a9a1364d6eaf09bfe596e16","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-143.21d","next":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-143.22"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
