{"data":{"id":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-356z.48","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"215 ILCS 5/356z.48","heading":"Colonoscopy coverage.","body":"(a) A group policy of accident and health insurance that is amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2022 shall provide coverage for a colonoscopy that is a follow-up exam based on an initial screen where the colonoscopy was determined to be medically necessary by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches, an advanced practice registered nurse, or a physician assistant.\n(b) A group or individual policy of accident and health insurance or managed care plan amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026 shall provide coverage for a colonoscopy determined to be medically necessary.\n(c) A policy subject to this Section shall not impose a deductible, coinsurance, copayment, or any other cost-sharing requirement on the coverage provided; except that this subsection does not apply to coverage of colonoscopies to the extent such coverage would disqualify a high-deductible health plan from eligibility for a health savings account pursuant to Section 223 of the Internal Revenue Code.","path":["CHAPTER 215 INSURANCE","Illinois Insurance Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1249\u0026ChapterID=22\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:30Z","sha256":"66902a684faf678cff555eb436388e9a7081a89defec5dbeb417b48cb86bae4d","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-356z.47","next":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-356z.49"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
