{"data":{"id":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-524.5","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"215 ILCS 5/524.5","heading":"Participation in and management of the Association.","body":"(This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a delayed effective date)\n(a) All admitted insurers engaged in writing in this State, on a direct basis, basic property insurance or any basic property insurance component in multi-peril policies, excluding farm mutual companies, shall be members of the Association.\n(b) The Association shall be managed by a governing committee of 11 persons, all serving 3-year terms, staggered as provided in the Association's articles of association and plan of operation. Six governing committee members shall be insurers elected in a manner provided in the Association's articles of association and plan of operation. Four governing committee members shall be public members who are not employees of, or otherwise affiliated with, the insurance industry and are appointed by the Director to represent the interest of insurance consumers. One governing committee member shall be an Illinois-licensed insurance producer appointed by the Director.\n(c) The governing committee shall, subject to the approval of the Director, adopt and maintain articles of association and a plan of operation for the Association.\n(d) Voting on administrative questions of the Association shall be weighted in accordance with each insurer's premium written during the second preceding calendar year, as disclosed in the reports filed by the insurer with the Director.\n(e) The Association may, on its own initiative or at the request of the Director, amend its articles of association and plan of operation, subject to approval by the Director.","path":["CHAPTER 215 INSURANCE","Illinois Insurance Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1249\u0026ChapterID=22\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:30Z","sha256":"0cffa0021b2adfaa7a32cbfc214ed24c87c6daab66cb393db44590a2ff038a4d","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-524","next":"us-il/215-ilcs-5-525"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
