{"data":{"id":"us-il/225-ilcs-85-24","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"225 ILCS 85/24","heading":"","body":"(Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028)\nIt shall be unlawful for any manufacturer or distributor of a prescription drug, or any person on behalf of such manufacturer or distributor, to distribute a prescription drug without charge or for less than its fair market value to any person directly or indirectly.\nNothing in this Section shall be construed to prohibit the distribution of a prescription drug:\n(a) at a discount in accordance with the laws of the United States or the State of Illinois;\n(b) to a person for use in an investigation conducted under Federal Food and Drug Administration regulations;\n(c) to a patient by a pharmacist in response to a request written and signed by a medical practitioner which designates the quantity to be distributed;\n(d) to a licensed medical practitioner in response to a request signed by the practitioner which designates the quantity to be distributed;\n(e) to an agency of the federal government or to a state government or political subdivision for regulatory or enforcement purposes;\n(f) in an emergency as determined by the laws of the United States or the State of Illinois; or\n(g) to a bona fide charity authorized to possess and dispense prescription drugs.","path":["CHAPTER 225 PROFESSIONS, OCCUPATIONS, AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS","Pharmacy Practice Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1318\u0026ChapterID=24\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:31Z","sha256":"2f57c770fae740a7f08fa17b3b6ccd0ae52055fc0399381c9f284b1fcde8c1e5","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/225-ilcs-85-23","next":"us-il/225-ilcs-85-25"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
