{"data":{"id":"us-il/40-ilcs-5-2-119.01","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"40 ILCS 5/2-119.01","heading":"Retirement annuities - Amount.","body":"(a) For a participant in service after June 30, 1977 who has not made contributions to this System after January 1, 1982, the annual retirement annuity is 3% for each of the first 8 years of service, plus 4% for each of the next 4 years of service, plus 5% for each year of service in excess of 12 years, based on the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes. The maximum retirement annuity payable shall be 80% of the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes.\n(b) For a participant in service after June 30, 1977 who has made contributions to this System on or after January 1, 1982, the annual retirement annuity is 3% for each of the first 4 years of service, plus 3 1/2% for each of the next 2 years of service, plus 4% for each of the next 2 years of service, plus 4 1/2% for each of the next 4 years of service, plus 5% for each year of service in excess of 12 years, of the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes. The maximum retirement annuity payable shall be 85% of the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes.\n(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, for a participant who first becomes a participant on or after January 1, 2011 (the effective date of Public Act 96-889), the annual retirement annuity is 3% of the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes for each year of service. The maximum retirement annuity payable shall be 60% of the participant's highest salary for annuity purposes.\n(d) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, for a participant who first becomes a participant on or after January 1, 2011 (the effective date of Public Act 96-889) and who is retiring after attaining age 62 with at least 8 years of service credit, the retirement annuity shall be reduced by one-half of 1% for each month that the member's age is under age 67.","path":["CHAPTER 40 PENSIONS","Illinois Pension Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=638\u0026ChapterID=9\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:20Z","sha256":"29224458660c472ea6252c71386b73eb22d10017e0aa84efe10d609e35bd5573","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/40-ilcs-5-2-119","next":"us-il/40-ilcs-5-2-119.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
