{"data":{"id":"us-il/50-ilcs-727-1-30","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"50 ILCS 727/1-30","heading":"Internal review of officer-involved shootings.","body":"(a) As used in this Section, \"officer-involved shooting\" means any instance when a law enforcement officer discharges his or her firearm causing injury or death to a person or persons during the performance of his or her official duties or in the line of duty.\n(b) Each law enforcement agency shall adopt a written policy for the internal review of officer-involved shootings. The written policy adopted by the law enforcement agency must include the following:\n(1) Each law enforcement officer shall immediately report any officer-involved shooting to the appropriate supervising officer.\n(2) Each law enforcement agency shall conduct a thorough review of the circumstances of the officer-involved shooting.\n(c) Each written policy under this Section shall be available for copying and inspection under the Freedom of Information Act, and not subject to any exemption of that Act.","path":["CHAPTER 50 LOCAL GOVERNMENT","Police and Community Relations Improvement Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=3660\u0026ChapterID=11\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:22Z","sha256":"6e96ac67f91e8d20eb2b7f3946aa54c435948487b6348aa28146dfb6aef42105","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/50-ilcs-727-1-25","next":"us-il/50-ilcs-727-1-35"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
