{"data":{"id":"us-il/50-ilcs-753-10","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"50 ILCS 753/10","heading":"Definitions.","body":"In this Act:\n\"Consumer\" means a person who purchases prepaid wireless telecommunications service in a retail transaction.\n\"Department\" means the Department of Revenue.\n\"Prepaid wireless E911 surcharge\" means the charge that is required to be collected by a seller from a consumer in the amount established under Section 15 of this Act.\n\"Prepaid wireless telecommunications service\" means a wireless telecommunications service that allows a caller to dial 9-1-1 to access the 9-1-1 system, which service must be paid for in advance and is sold in predetermined units or dollars of which the amount declines with use in a known amount.\n\"Provider\" means a person that provides prepaid wireless telecommunications service pursuant to a license issued by the Federal Communications Commission.\n\"Retail transaction\" means the purchase of prepaid wireless telecommunications service from a seller for any purpose other than resale.\n\"Seller\" means a person who sells prepaid wireless telecommunications service to another person.\n\"Wireless telecommunications service\" means commercial mobile radio service as defined by 47 C.F.R. 20.3.","path":["CHAPTER 50 LOCAL GOVERNMENT","Prepaid Wireless 9-1-1 Surcharge Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=3375\u0026ChapterID=11\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:22Z","sha256":"94d8e767a14ec2f3dda0803810ea4ce7593715408363e1a23f8f4403503d832e","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/50-ilcs-753-5","next":"us-il/50-ilcs-753-15"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
