{"data":{"id":"us-il/510-ilcs-68-110-5","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"510 ILCS 68/110-5","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"When acting in their official capacity, the following entities and their agents are exempt from Section 75-5 and 85-5 of this Act:\n(1) public zoos or aquaria accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or the Zoological Association of America;\n(2) licensed veterinarians or anyone operating under the authority of a licensed veterinarian who is actively treating a special use herptile that is being maintained in the veterinarian facility in accordance with Sections 10-25, 20-15, and 25-15 of this Act in order to prevent the escape of the herptile and protect public health and safety;\n(3) (blank);\n(4) accredited research or medical institutions;\n(5) licensed or accredited educational institutions;\n(6) circuses licensed and in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all rules adopted by the Department of Agriculture;\n(7) federal, State, and local law enforcement officers, including animal control officers acting under the authority of this Act;\n(8) members of federal, State, or local agencies approved by the Department; and\n(9) (blank);\n(10) any motion picture or television production company that uses licensed dealers, exhibitors, and transporters under the federal Animal Welfare Act, 7 U.S.C. 2132.","path":["CHAPTER 510 ANIMALS","Herptiles-Herps Act"],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=3563\u0026ChapterID=41\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:38Z","sha256":"f04b21e7992bb1b42bc9559789226f683dc3a4c625dba1f748f10adcdb332df6","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/510-ilcs-68-105-100","next":"us-il/510-ilcs-68-900-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
