{"data":{"id":"us-il/55-ilcs-5-5-23030","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"55 ILCS 5/5-23030","heading":"Petition for tax levy; submission to vote.","body":"Whenever 100 legal voters of any county shall present a petition to the County Board of such county asking that an annual tax may be levied for the care and treatment of persons afflicted with tuberculosis, such County Board shall certify the proposition to the proper election officials, who shall submit the proposition at an election in accordance with the general election law. The proposition shall be in substantially the following form:\n--------------------------------------------------------------\nShall an annual tax of not\nto exceed .075 per cent of YES\nvalue as equalized or assessed\nby the Department of Revenue -----------------------------\nfor the care and treatment\nof persons afflicted with NO\ntuberculosis be levied?\n--------------------------------------------------------------\nIf a majority of all votes cast upon the proposition shall be for the levy of a tax for the care and treatment of persons afflicted with tuberculosis the County Board of such County shall thereafter levy a tax of not to exceed .075 per cent of the value as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue, which tax shall be collected in like manner with the other general taxes in the County and shall be known as \"Tuberculosis Care and Treatment Fund\", and thereafter the County Board of such County shall in the annual appropriation bill, appropriate from such fund such sum or sums of money as may be deemed necessary to defray the necessary cost and expense of providing care and treatment of persons afflicted with tuberculosis.","path":["CHAPTER 55 COUNTIES","Counties Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=750\u0026ChapterID=12\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:22Z","sha256":"cd43ba72873a6ca771685005994331ef8e054731206f330817cb0e622052cb4e","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/55-ilcs-5-5-23029","next":"us-il/55-ilcs-5-5-23031"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
