{"data":{"id":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-1003","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"625 ILCS 5/11-1003","heading":"Crossing at other than crosswalks.","body":"(a) Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.\n(b) Any pedestrian crossing a roadway at a point where a pedestrian tunnel or overhead pedestrian crossing has been provided shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.\n(c) Between adjacent intersections at which traffic-control signals are in operation pedestrians shall not cross at any place except in a marked crosswalk.\n(d) No pedestrian shall cross a roadway intersection diagonally unless authorized by official traffic-control devices; and, when authorized to cross diagonally, pedestrians shall cross only in accordance with the official traffic-control devices pertaining to such crossing movements.\n(e) Pedestrians with disabilities may cross a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk where the intersection is physically inaccessible to them but they shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.","path":["CHAPTER 625 VEHICLES","Illinois Vehicle Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1815\u0026ChapterID=49\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:40Z","sha256":"8eacfe3c69990f75b92bd91d68879b2247215fa0365cc66292f3c0c57a950eaa","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-1002.5","next":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-1003.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
