{"data":{"id":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-907.5","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"625 ILCS 5/11-907.5","heading":"Approaching disabled vehicles.","body":"(a) Upon approaching a disabled vehicle with lighted hazard lights on a highway having at least 4 lanes, of which at least 2 are proceeding in the same direction, a driver of a vehicle shall:\n(1) proceeding with due caution, yield the right-of-way by making a lane change into a lane not adjacent to that of the disabled vehicle, if possible with due regard to safety and traffic conditions; or\n(2) if changing lanes would be impossible or unsafe proceeding with due caution, reduce the speed of the vehicle, maintaining a safe speed for road conditions and leaving a safe distance until safely past the stationary vehicles.\n(b) A person who violates subsection (a) of this Section commits a petty offense.","path":["CHAPTER 625 VEHICLES","Illinois Vehicle Code."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1815\u0026ChapterID=49\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:40Z","sha256":"9a5ca07cca87f811e2c9a93e0a20f024a9b2799147ee0f186a8d2621d7b03eeb","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-907.2","next":"us-il/625-ilcs-5-11-908"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
