{"data":{"id":"us-il/710-ilcs-15-2","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"710 ILCS 15/2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this Act:\n(a) \"Health care provider\" means a person, partnership, corporation, or other entity lawfully engaged in the practice of medicine, surgery, chiropractic, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, physical therapy or nursing.\n(b) \"Hospital\" means a person, partnership, corporation or other entity lawfully engaged in the operation or administration of a hospital, clinic, nursing home or sanitarium.\n(c) \"Supplier\" means a person, corporation, partnership or other entity that has manufactured, designed, distributed, sold, or otherwise provided any medication, device, equipment, service, or other product used in the diagnosis or treatment of a patient.\n(d) \"Health care arbitration agreement\" or \"agreement\" means a written agreement between a patient and a hospital or health care provider to submit to binding arbitration a claim for damages arising out of (1) injuries alleged to have been received by a patient or (2) death of a patient, due to hospital or health care provider negligence or other wrongful act, but not including intentional torts.","path":["CHAPTER 710 ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION","Health Care Arbitration Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1869\u0026ChapterID=51\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:41Z","sha256":"34f5297f73bb18661302b69a9b42d95400fa1ebd3ef8d0c6202612059f01bf8c","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/710-ilcs-15-1","next":"us-il/710-ilcs-15-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
