{"data":{"id":"us-il/725-ilcs-185-25","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"725 ILCS 185/25","heading":"Pretrial services agency; notification of court appearance obligations.","body":"(a) The pretrial services agency may require supervised persons to periodically report by letter, telephone, or in person to verify compliance with court-ordered pretrial release conditions.\n(b) Each agency must provide written notification of court appearance obligations to all persons under pretrial services supervision as follows:\n(1) the agency shall provide at least 3 text notices to the defendant before each court appearance with one notice the day before the required court appearance;\n(2) the agency shall provide at least one text message to the defendant if the defendant misses a court appearance; and\n(3) a copy of the content of the message and a delivery receipt shall be maintained as part of the agency records.\n(c) This Section does not apply if the agency does not have the information needed from a defendant to send a text message notification to the defendant or if the defendant has opted out of text message reminders.\n(d) The agency may provide phone calls, emails, or written notifications for defendants that cannot receive text messages or defendants who elect to receive these alternative types of notifications.\n(e) For circuit courts and counties with a population greater than or equal to 3,000,000 where a local pretrial services agency provides pretrial services, the local pretrial services agency or any other agency designated by the chief judge shall provide notification of court appearance obligations to all persons under pretrial services supervision or charged with a misdemeanor or felony offense as set forth in paragraph (1) of subsection (b) and subsections (c) and (d).\n(f) In this Section, \"agency\" means a pretrial services agency.","path":["CHAPTER 725 CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","Pretrial Services Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1985\u0026ChapterID=54\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:42Z","sha256":"a633e86132c92df1f864b6e4c24b00528ce327418ead109622092b2140bdf83e","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/725-ilcs-185-24","next":"us-il/725-ilcs-185-25.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
