{"data":{"id":"us-il/725-ilcs-5-107-11","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"725 ILCS 5/107-11","heading":"When summons may be issued.","body":"(a) When authorized to issue a warrant of arrest, a court may instead issue a summons.\n(b) The summons shall:\n(1) Be in writing;\n(2) State the name of the person summoned and his or her address, if known;\n(3) Set forth the nature of the offense;\n(4) State the date when issued and the municipality or county where issued;\n(5) Be signed by the judge of the court with the title of his or her office; and\n(6) Command the person to appear before a court at a certain time and place.\n(c) The summons may be served in the same manner as the summons in a civil action or by certified or regular mail, except that police officers may serve summons for violations of ordinances occurring within their municipalities.","path":["CHAPTER 725 CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=1966\u0026ChapterID=54\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:42Z","sha256":"9b11c8b16015a09c62e3e95a81e5f0a6cdd8dda277b2914e7aedf9bf3502c324","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/725-ilcs-5-107-10","next":"us-il/725-ilcs-5-107-12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
