{"data":{"id":"us-il/750-ilcs-10-4","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"750 ILCS 10/4","heading":"Content.","body":"(a) Parties to a premarital agreement may contract with respect to:\n(1) the rights and obligations of each of the parties in any of the property of either or both of them whenever and wherever acquired or located;\n(2) the right to buy, sell, use, transfer, exchange, abandon, lease, consume, expend, assign, create a security interest in, mortgage, encumber, dispose of, or otherwise manage and control property;\n(3) the disposition of property upon separation, marital dissolution, death, or the occurrence or nonoccurrence of any other event;\n(4) the modification or elimination of spousal support;\n(5) the making of a will, trust, or other arrangement to carry out the provisions of the agreement;\n(6) the ownership rights in and disposition of the death benefit from a life insurance policy;\n(7) the choice of law governing the construction of the agreement; and\n(8) any other matter, including their personal rights and obligations, not in violation of public policy or a statute imposing a criminal penalty.\n(b) The right of a child to support may not be adversely affected by a premarital agreement.","path":["CHAPTER 750 FAMILIES","Illinois Uniform Premarital Agreement Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=2087\u0026ChapterID=59\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:44Z","sha256":"3455a5c94a41f7b6dd6691c01280c67be1aabdcf032db40f024ccd50a715ce7d","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/750-ilcs-10-3","next":"us-il/750-ilcs-10-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
