{"data":{"id":"us-il/755-ilcs-5-11a-18.3","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"755 ILCS 5/11a-18.3","heading":"Duties of short-term guardian of a person with a disability.","body":"(a) Immediately upon the effective date of the appointment of a short-term guardian, the short-term guardian shall assume all duties as short-term guardian of the person with a disability as provided in this Section. The short-term guardian of the person shall have authority to act as short-term guardian, without direction of the court, for the duration of the appointment, which in no case shall exceed a cumulative total of 60 days in any 12-month period for all short-term guardians appointed by the guardian. The authority of the short-term guardian may be limited or terminated by a court of competent jurisdiction.\n(b) Unless further specifically limited by the instrument appointing the short-term guardian, a short-term guardian shall have the authority to act as a guardian of the person of a person with a disability as prescribed in Section 11a-17, but shall not have any authority to act as guardian of the estate of a person with a disability, except that a short-term guardian shall have the authority to apply for and receive on behalf of the person with a disability benefits to which the person with a disability may be entitled from or under federal, State, or local organizations or programs.","path":["CHAPTER 755 ESTATES","Probate Act of 1975."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=2104\u0026ChapterID=60\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:44Z","sha256":"9e1bb7d2c57d5a23f6de4649f77545f04092ec255f55e4fd8f75594167edaa90","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/755-ilcs-5-11a-18.2","next":"us-il/755-ilcs-5-11a-19"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
