{"data":{"id":"us-il/765-ilcs-1065-8","jurisdiction":"us-il","citation":"765 ILCS 1065/8","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act is intended to displace conflicting tort, restitutionary, unfair competition, and other laws of this State providing civil remedies for misappropriation of a trade secret.\n(b) This Act does not affect:\n(1) contractual remedies, whether or not based upon misappropriation of a trade secret, provided however, that a contractual or other duty to maintain secrecy or limit use of a trade secret shall not be deemed to be void or unenforceable solely for lack of durational or geographical limitation on the duty;\n(2) other civil remedies that are not based upon misappropriation of a trade secret;\n(3) criminal remedies, whether or not based upon misappropriation of a trade secret; or\n(4) the definition of a trade secret contained in any other Act of this State.","path":["CHAPTER 765 PROPERTY","Illinois Trade Secrets Act."],"source_url":"https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ILCS/details?ActID=2239\u0026ChapterID=62\u0026ChapAct=FullText\u0026Print=True","current_through":"at least Public Act 104-790","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-15T04:46:46Z","sha256":"5ea4e4c25edf6196872b44acdf7315d992ffb5d197c5d39a635c3b81c38f49b5","source_id":"us-il","stale":false,"prev":"us-il/765-ilcs-1065-7","next":"us-il/765-ilcs-1065-9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
