{"data":{"id":"us-in/ic-20-35-12-6","jurisdiction":"us-in","citation":"IC 20-35-12-6","heading":"\"Deaf or hard of hearing\"","body":"Sec. 6. As used in this chapter, \"deaf or hard of hearing\", which may be referred to as a hearing impairment, means the following:\n(1) A disability that, with or without the use of an amplification device, adversely affects the student's:\n(A) ability to use hearing for developing language and learning;\n(B) educational performance; and\n(C) developmental progress.\n(2) The hearing loss may be:\n(A) permanent or fluctuating;\n(B) mild to profound; or\n(C) unilateral or bilateral.\n(3) Students who are deaf or hard of hearing may use:\n(A) spoken language;\n(B) sign language; or\n(C) a combination of spoken language and signed systems.\n(4) Students who are deaf or hard of hearing who may have:\n(A) an individualized family service plan;\n(B) an individualized education program;\n(C) a plan developed under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. 794;\n(D) a service plan;\n(E) a choice special education plan; or\n(F) no educational plan or program.","path":["TITLE 20.
