(a) Not later than July 1, 2019, the department shall employ at least one (1) reading specialist trained in dyslexia with a minimum of three (3) years of field experience in screening, identifying, and treating dyslexia and related disorders to provide the following:\n(1) Technical assistance for dyslexia and related disorders to:\n(A) the department; and\n(B) school corporations and charter schools in Indiana.\n(2) Training to school corporation and charter school employees in:\n(A) administering screenings;\n(B) analyzing and interpreting screening data;\n(C) determining appropriate interventions that are systematic, multisensory, and evidence based; and\n(D) dyslexia programs.\n(b) A reading specialist trained in dyslexia shall:\n(1) be trained in dyslexia and related disorders, including best practice interventions and treatment models for dyslexia;\n(2) be responsible for:\n(A) the accountability of screening results; and\n(B) ensuring that all teachers working for the school corporations and charter schools receive the professional awareness information as required under IC 20-35.5-7-1; and\n(3) serve as the primary source of information and support for school corporations and charter schools in addressing the needs of students with dyslexia and related disorders.","path":["TITLE 20.
