As used in this chapter, \"strength based\" refers to a perspective that recognizes that:\n(1) every individual, group, family, and community has strengths that should be considered by service providers when developing services for a client;\n(2) a service provider can best serve a client by collaborating with the client to develop the client's strengths;\n(3) service providers should work with a client to ensure that every environment in which the client receives services has adequate resources to meet the needs of the client; and\n(4) a service plan for a client should not be based on diagnostic assessments of client deficits or needs but on a practice that uses the assessment process to discover strengths and engage clients in collaborative planning.","path":["TITLE 4.
