The state library shall conduct research in appropriate areas of library activity and survey and study the library community in Indiana, including all types of libraries in Indiana, on a continual basis for the purpose of:\n(1) collecting pertinent statistics and other information;\n(2) assessing the condition and capacity of existing library facilities, resources, and services;\n(3) defining the needs of society which are the responsibility of libraries to meet;\n(4) evaluating library performance in relation to these needs; and\n(5) preparing recommendations and plans which will develop and strengthen library service in Indiana.","path":["TITLE 4.
