(a) A person that owns a vehicle may apply to the bureau for a temporary delivery permit to operate the vehicle without obtaining a certificate of title or registration for the vehicle as set forth in subsection (b). The bureau shall issue the person a temporary delivery permit after the person does the following:\n(1) Provides proof of financial responsibility in effect with respect to the vehicle in the amounts specified under this article in the form required by the bureau.\n(2) Pays a fee of eighteen dollars ($18). The fee shall be distributed as follows:\n(A) Twenty-five cents ($0.25) to the state construction fund.\n(B) Fifty cents ($0.50) to the state motor vehicle technology fund.\n(C) One dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) to the emergency communications fund.\n(D) Five dollars ($5) to the commission fund.\n(E) Any remaining amount to the motor vehicle highway account.\n(b) A temporary delivery permit issued under subsection (a) is valid for a period of ninety-six (96) hours beginning with the time of issuance and authorizes the person or the person's agent or employee to operate the vehicle upon a highway for the purpose of delivering, or having delivered, the vehicle to any of the following locations:\n(1) A place of storage, including the person's residence or place of business.\n(2) An inspection station for purposes of emissions testing under IC 13-17-5-5.1(b).\n(3) A license branch or a location operated by a full service provider (as defined in IC 9-14.1-1-2) or a partial services provider (as defined in IC 9-14.1-1-3) to register the vehicle under this article.\n(c) A temporary delivery permit must be displayed on a vehicle in a manner determined by the bureau.\n(d) A person that uses a temporary permit:\n(1) for a period greater than ninety-six (96) hours; or\n(2) for a purpose not specified in subsection (b);\ncommits a Class C infraction.","path":["TITLE 9.
