As used in this chapter, \"Gold Star family member\" means:\n(1) a biological parent;\n(2) an adoptive parent;\n(3) a stepparent;\n(4) a biological child;\n(5) an adopted child;\n(6) a stepchild;\n(7) a sibling by blood;\n(8) a sibling by half blood;\n(9) a sibling by adoption;\n(10) a stepsibling;\n(11) a grandparent;\n(12) a great-grandparent;\n(13) the spouse; or\n(14) a biological parent of a child;\nof an individual who has died while serving on active duty, or dies as a result of injuries sustained while serving on active duty, as a member of the armed forces of the United States or the national guard (as defined in IC 10-16-1-13).","path":["TITLE 9.
