(a) The Indiana department of transportation may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to do the following:\n(1) Establish and designate a highway as a heavy duty highway.\n(2) Remove the designation of a highway or part of a highway as a heavy duty highway.\n(b) The Indiana department of transportation shall adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to do the following:\n(1) Establish and designate a highway as an extra heavy duty highway.\n(2) Remove the designation of a highway or part of a highway as an extra heavy duty highway.\n(c) Rules described in subsection (b)(1) must do the following:\n(1) Designate the highways listed in section 4 of this chapter (before its expiration) as extra heavy duty highways.\n(2) Establish maximum size and weight limits for vehicles operated with a special weight permit on an extra heavy duty highway as set forth in section 5 of this chapter (before its expiration).\n(d) The Indiana department of transportation shall periodically publish a map showing all highways designated by the department at the time as heavy duty or extra heavy duty highways.","path":["TITLE 9.
