{"data":{"id":"us-in/ic-9-24-11-3.5","jurisdiction":"us-in","citation":"IC 9-24-11-3.5","heading":"Operation of vehicle during probationary period","body":"Sec. 3.5. (a) This section applies:\n(1) to an individual who is less than twenty-one (21) years of age; and\n(2) during the one hundred eighty (180) day period after the individual is issued a driver's license under this article.\n(b) An individual may not operate a motor vehicle:\n(1) from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. of the following morning, unless the individual is:\n(A) participating in, going to, or returning from:\n(i) lawful employment;\n(ii) a school sanctioned activity; or\n(iii) a religious event; or\n(B) accompanied in the front seat of the motor vehicle by a licensed driver with valid driving privileges who is:\n(i) at least twenty-five (25) years of age; or\n(ii) if the licensed driver is the individual's spouse, at least twenty-one (21) years of age; or\n(2) in which there are passengers, unless:\n(A) each passenger in the motor vehicle is:\n(i) a child or stepchild of the individual;\n(ii) a sibling of the individual, including step or half siblings;\n(iii) the spouse of the individual;\n(iv) a parent or legal guardian of the individual;\n(v) a grandparent of the individual; or\n(vi) any combination of individuals described in items (i) through (v); or\n(B) the individual is accompanied in the front seat of the motor vehicle by a licensed driver with valid driving privileges who is:\n(i) at least twenty-five (25) years of age; or\n(ii) if the licensed driver is the individual's spouse, at least twenty-one (21) years of age.","path":["TITLE 9.
