(a) An individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency of the English language sufficient to:\n(1) converse with the general public;\n(2) understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language;\n(3) respond to official inquiries; and\n(4) make entries on reports in records;\nto operate a commercial motor vehicle.\n(b) An individual must take and pass a knowledge exam and a skills exam in:\n(1) English; or\n(2) American Sign Language;\nto operate a commercial motor vehicle.","path":["TITLE 9.
