{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-19-4808","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 19-4808","heading":"Notice of crime to victim compensation coordinator; information to be provided to victim.","body":"(a) Within seven days after the initial contact between the victim of a reported crime and the law enforcement agency investigating the crime, such agency shall notify the victim compensation coordinator* of the report of the crime and the name and address of the victim or victims.\n(b) A law enforcement agency shall provide the following information to the victim:\n(1) The availability of emergency and medical services numbers, if needed;\n(2) the police report number, in writing;\n(3) the address and telephone number of the prosecutor's office that the victim should contact to obtain information about victims' rights pursuant to K.S.A. 74-7333 and 74-7335, and amendments thereto;\n(4) the name, address and telephone number of the local board and information about victim compensation benefits, if any local board has been appointed in the county;\n(5) advise the victim that the details of the crime may be made public; and\n(6) advise the victim of such victim's rights under K.S.A. 74-7333 and 74-7335, and amendments thereto.\n(c) A law enforcement agency may adopt any procedure to transmit such information which substantially complies with the provisions of this section.","path":["Chapter 19.—COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS","Article 48.—CRIME VICTIMS RESTITUTION"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch19/019_048_0008.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:06Z","sha256":"63a63bdce993eb23ef59db9aba56739861f1e2c7b7276148a6a418ff588037dd","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-19-4807","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-19-4809"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
