{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-2404","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 23-2404","heading":"Same; areas with respect to which parties may contract; right of child to support not to be adversely affected.","body":"(a) Parties to a premarital agreement may contract with respect to all of the following:\n(1) The rights and obligations of each of the parties in any of the property of either, or both, whenever and wherever acquired or located;\n(2) the right to buy, sell, use, transfer, exchange, abandon, lease, consume, expend, assign, create a security interest in, mortgage, encumber, dispose of or otherwise manage and control property;\n(3) the disposition of property upon separation, marital dissolution, death or the occurrence or nonoccurrence of any other event;\n(4) the modification or elimination of spousal support;\n(5) the making of a will, trust or other arrangement to carry out the provisions of the agreement;\n(6) the ownership rights in and disposition of the death benefit from a life insurance policy;\n(7) the choice of law governing the construction of the agreement; and\n(8) any other matter, including their personal rights and obligations, not in violation of public policy or a statute imposing a criminal penalty.\n(b) The right of a child to support may not be adversely affected by a premarital agreement.","path":["Chapter 23.—KANSAS FAMILY LAW CODE-REVISED","Article 24.—PREMARITAL AGREEMENTS"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch23/023_024_0004.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:19Z","sha256":"ed3f7ffb6c005cba1028b23c0eb2564cefd2b1a60689a4b7f6037cf1874b33c0","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-2403","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-2405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
