{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-701","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 23-36,701","heading":"Definitions.","body":"In this part:\n(a) \"Application\" means a request under the convention by an obligee or obligor, or on behalf of a child, made through a central authority for assistance from another central authority.\n(b) \"Central authority\" means the entity designated by the United States or a foreign country described in K.S.A. 23-36,102(e)(4), and amendments thereto, to perform the functions specified in the convention.\n(c) \"Convention support order\" means a support order of a tribunal of a foreign country described in K.S.A. 23-36,102(e)(4), and amendments thereto.\n(d) \"Direct request\" means a petition filed by an individual in a tribunal of this state in a proceeding involving an obligee, obligor or child residing outside the United States.\n(e) \"Foreign central authority\" means the entity designated by a foreign country described in K.S.A. 23-36,102(e)(4), and amendments thereto, to perform the functions specified in the convention.\n(f) \"Foreign support agreement\":\n(1) Means an agreement for support in a record that:\n(A) Is enforceable as a support order in the country of origin;\n(B) has been:\n(i) Formally drawn up or registered as an authentic instrument by a foreign tribunal; or\n(ii) authenticated by, or concluded, registered, or filed with a foreign tribunal; and\n(C) may be reviewed and modified by a foreign tribunal; and\n(2) includes a maintenance arrangement or authentic instrument under the convention.\n(g) \"United States central authority\" means the secretary of the United States department of health and human services.","path":["Chapter 23.—KANSAS FAMILY LAW CODE-REVISED","Article 36.—FAMILY SUPPORT JURISDICTION"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch23/023_036_0701.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:22Z","sha256":"a9c1633e8993c51b541b063c40eebfb07f98c9c1d52b5971ed55d5193f4028bc","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-616","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
