{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-710","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 23-36,710","heading":"Foreign support order.","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsections (c) and (d), a tribunal of this state shall recognize and enforce a foreign support agreement registered in this state.\n(b) An application or direct request for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be accompanied by:\n(1) A complete text of the foreign support agreement; and\n(2) a record stating that the foreign support agreement is enforceable as a decision in the issuing country.\n(c) A tribunal of this state may vacate the registration of a foreign support agreement only if, acting on its own motion, the tribunal finds that recognition and enforcement would be manifestly incompatible with public policy.\n(d) In a contest of a foreign support agreement, a tribunal of this state may refuse recognition and enforcement of the agreement if it finds:\n(1) Recognition and enforcement of the agreement is manifestly incompatible with public policy;\n(2) the agreement was obtained by fraud or falsification;\n(3) the agreement is incompatible with a support order involving the same parties and having the same purpose in this state, another state or a foreign country if the support order is entitled to recognition and enforcement under this act in this state; or\n(4) the record submitted under subsection (b) lacks authenticity or integrity.\n(e) A proceeding for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be suspended during the pendency of a challenge to or appeal of the agreement before a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.","path":["Chapter 23.—KANSAS FAMILY LAW CODE-REVISED","Article 36.—FAMILY SUPPORT JURISDICTION"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch23/023_036_0710.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:22Z","sha256":"a64aea1d866201e38e4c2c4a4a2a7402bf3a3b070647c258b66c5423f429b797","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-709","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-23-36-711"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
