{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-25-2435","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 25-2435","heading":"Prosecution of election crimes.","body":"(a) Independent authority to prosecute any person who has committed or attempted to commit any act that constitutes a Kansas elections crime defined in K.S.A. 25-1128, and amendments thereto, or article 24 of chapter 25 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments thereto, shall be vested in:\n(1) The district attorney or county attorney of the county where such act occurred;\n(2) the Kansas attorney general; or\n(3) the Kansas secretary of state.\n(b) If one of the officers listed in subsection (a) has commenced the prosecution of a person who has committed or attempted to commit any act that constitutes a Kansas election crime, the other officers listed in subsection (a) may provide assistance to the prosecuting officer but shall not commence a separate prosecution.","path":["Chapter 25.—ELECTIONS","Article 24.—ELECTION CRIMES"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch25/025_024_0035.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:31Z","sha256":"6a45dc0b9c710f04670f875dab9ec2b16a3909a51025c9188032edc7542c0d93","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-25-2434","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-25-2436"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
