{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-38-614","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 38-614","heading":"Activities not considered employment; performance prohibited, when.","body":"For the purposes of article 6 of chapter 38 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments thereto, the following shall not be considered employment:\n(1) Children employed by their parents in nonhazardous occupations;\n(2) domestic service;\n(3) casual labor in or around a private home;\n(4) delivery or messenger work;\n(5) delivering or distributing newspapers or shopping news;\n(6) agricultural, horticultural, livestock or dairying pursuits and employments incident thereto; and\n(7) except as provided by K.S.A. 38-615 through 38-622, and amendments thereto, children employed as actors, actresses or performers in motion pictures, theatrical, radio or television productions.\nSuch exempt services shall not be performed by a child attending school during hours in which the public school is in session in the district in which such child resides.","path":["Chapter 38.—MINORS","Article 6.—CHILD LABOR"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch38/038_006_0014.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:45Z","sha256":"6f00c3898a7329ca5a7a9477236957cfc61e80e8a6a9cfdf618311ecc78008ca","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-38-613","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-38-615"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
