{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-39-7-124","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 39-7,124","heading":"Aid to families with dependent children; no grant payments for unmarried minor who has a child unless residing with parent; exceptions.","body":"(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, no aid to families with dependent children grant payment shall be made on behalf of a minor under the age of 18 years who has never married and who has a child or is pregnant unless such minor resides with a parent, legal guardian or other adult relative or in a foster home, maternity home or other adult-supervised living arrangement.\n(b) Exceptions to this section shall be allowed in any of the following circumstances in accordance with requirements of the federal family support act of 1988:\n(1) The individual has no parent or legal guardian who is living or the whereabouts of the individual's parent or legal guardian are unknown;\n(2) the state determines that the physical health or safety of the individual or the individual's child would be jeopardized; or\n(3) the individual has lived apart from the individual's parent or legal guardian for a period of at least one year prior to the birth of the child or applying for benefits.","path":["Chapter 39.—DEPENDENT PERSONS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES; SOCIAL WELFARE","Article 7.—SOCIAL WELFARE"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch39/039_007_0124.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:11:49Z","sha256":"2e6c668dac6042a47f20427b65f54741a61223d176dd5d9ef344fc00a3cfc136","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-39-7-123","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-39-7-125"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
