{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-72-6121","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 72-6121","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this act:\n(a) \"Juvenile\" means a person who is less than 18 years of age;\n(b) \"adult\" means a person who is 18 years of age or older;\n(c) \"felony\" means any crime designated a felony by the laws of Kansas or the United States;\n(d) \"misdemeanor\" means any crime designated a misdemeanor by the laws of Kansas or the United States;\n(e) \"school day\" means any day on which school is maintained;\n(f) \"school year\" means the same as such term is defined in K.S.A. 72-5132, and amendments thereto;\n(g) \"counsel\" means any person a pupil selects to represent and advise the pupil at all proceedings conducted pursuant to the provisions of this act; and\n(h) \"principal witness\" means any witness whose testimony is of major importance in support of the charges upon which a proposed suspension or expulsion from school is based, or in determination of material questions of fact.","path":["Chapter 72.—SCHOOLS","Article 61.—STUDENT SAFETY AND DISCIPLINE"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch72/072_061_0021.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-10-15T06:28:56Z","sha256":"a573fc64bdf77cedf121ec23a0c1115dff316f6756414b9a8230b97394626ef3","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-72-6120","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-72-6131"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
