{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-74-32-181","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 74-32,181","heading":"Fees.","body":"(a) The state board shall fix, charge and collect fees not to exceed the following amounts by adopting rules and regulations for such purposes:\n(1) For institutions chartered, incorporated or otherwise organized under the laws of Kansas and having their principal place of business in Kansas:\nInitial application fees:\nNon-degree granting institution $2,000\nDegree granting institution $3,000\nInitial evaluation fee (in addition to initial application fees):\nNon-degree level $750\nAssociate degree level $1,000\nBaccalaureate degree level $2,000\nMaster's degree level $3,000\nProfessional or doctoral degree level $4,000\nRenewal application fees:\nNon-degree granting institution Up to 2% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $500, nor more than $25,000\nDegree granting institution Up to 2% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $1,000, nor more than $25,000\nNew program submission fees, for each new program:\nNon-degree program $250\nAssociate degree program $500\nBaccalaureate degree program $750\nMaster's degree program $1,000\nProfessional or doctoral degree program $2,000\nBranch campus site fees, for each branch campus site:\nInitial non-degree granting institution $1,500\nInitial degree granting institution $2,500\nRenewal branch campus site fees, for each branch campus site:\nNon-degree granting institution Up to 2% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $500, nor more than $25,000\nDegree granting institution Up to 2% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $1,000, nor more than $25,000\nRepresentative fees:\nInitial registration $200\nLate submission of renewal of application fee $500\nStudent transcript copy fee $10\nReturned check fee $50\n(2) For institutions domiciled or having their principal place of business outside Kansas:\nInitial application fees:\nNon-degree granting institution $4,000\nDegree granting institution $5,500\nInitial evaluation fee (in addition to initial application fees):\nNon-degree level $1,500\nAssociate degree level $2,000\nBaccalaureate degree level $3,000\nMaster's degree level $4,000\nProfessional or doctoral degree level $5,000\nRenewal application fees:\nNon-degree granting institution Up to 3% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $1,000, nor more than $25,000\nDegree granting institution Up to 3% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $2,000, nor more than $25,000\nNew program submission fees, for each new program:\nNon-degree program $500\nAssociate degree program $750\nBaccalaureate degree program $1,000\nMaster's degree program $1,500\nProfessional or doctoral degree program $2,500\nBranch campus site fees, for each branch campus site:\nInitial non-degree granting institution $4,000\nInitial degree granting institution $5,500\nRenewal branch campus site fees, for each branch campus site:\nNon-degree granting institution Up to 3% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $1,000, nor more than $25,000\nDegree granting institution Up to 3% of gross tuition,\nbut not less than $2,000, nor more than $25,000\nRepresentative fees:\nInitial registration $350\nLate submission of renewal of application fee $500\nStudent transcript copy fee $10\nReturned check fee $50\n(b) Fees shall not be refundable.\n(c) The state board shall annually determine the amount of revenue that will be required to properly carry out and enforce the provisions of the Kansas private and out-of-state postsecondary educational institution act and shall fix the fees authorized at the sum deemed necessary for such purposes within the limits of this section.\n(d) Fees may be charged to conduct on-site reviews for degree granting and non-degree granting institutions or to review curriculum in content areas where the state board does not have expertise.","path":["Chapter 74.—STATE BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES","Article 32.—STATE BOARD OF REGENTS"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch74/074_032_0181.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:14:12Z","sha256":"cf47fccfe9b406aa93860af8ae06e824ebc8ad430a607c91d05666396db1a640","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-74-32-180","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-74-32-182"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
