{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-3728e","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 75-3728e","heading":"Canteens, work therapy projects and benefit funds at state institutions; definitions.","body":"As used in this act, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(a) \"Canteen\" means a retail store which offers for sale items of necessity, comfort and morale which otherwise are not accessible to persons in the environment of a state institution.\n(b) \"Canteen fund\" means the moneys and other assets used for operation of a canteen.\n(c) \"Benefit fund\" means the moneys and other assets available:\n(1) To provide property, services or entertainment for persons in a state institution or in the legal custody of the secretary of corrections;\n(2) to provide incentives for program and work participation and performance and other activities related to offender management for persons in the legal custody of the secretary of corrections; or\n(3) for other purposes that benefit persons in a state institution or in the legal custody of the secretary of corrections.\n(d) \"Work therapy project\" means a sheltered workshop or other similar vocational training activity provided by a state institution, whether on or off campus.\n(e) \"Work therapy fund\" means the moneys and other assets used to operate a work therapy project for persons in a state institution.\n(f) \"State institution\" means:\n(1) Any institution as defined by K.S.A. 38-2302, K.S.A. 75-5202 or 76-12a01, and amendments thereto;\n(2) the Kansas state school for the blind;\n(3) the Kansas state school for the deaf; and\n(4) the Kansas veterans' home and the Kansas soldiers' home, which are operated and administered by the commission on veterans affairs.","path":["Chapter 75.—STATE DEPARTMENTS; PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES","Article 37.—DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch75/075_037_0028e.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:14:40Z","sha256":"80a098d400c6250db6565b1badc33b9908bfbfde722537add542ebfe965f1a8a","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-3728d","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-3728f"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
