{"data":{"id":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-7707","jurisdiction":"us-ks","citation":"K.S.A. 75-7707","heading":"Child care license or temporary permit required; exemptions.","body":"(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or association to conduct or maintain a day care facility for children under 16 years of age without having a license or temporary permit therefor from the executive director of the Kansas office of early childhood. Nothing in this act shall apply to:\n(1) A residential facility or hospital that is operated and maintained by a state agency as defined in K.S.A. 75-3701, and amendments thereto;\n(2) child care facilities as defined in K.S.A. 65-503, and amendments thereto;\n(3) a summer instructional camp that is provided by a not-for-profit, school, verifiable nonpublic school or an employee of such school; or\n(4) a person or group of persons providing educational activities for children ages pre-K through high school to such persons' children.\n(b) Organizations or persons providing services defined as a day care under this act and not included in this section may apply for and be granted a waiver as provided for under the act.\n(c) This section shall take effect on and after July 1, 2026.","path":["Chapter 75.—STATE DEPARTMENTS; PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES","Article 77.—KANSAS OFFICE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch75/075_077_0007.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:14:55Z","sha256":"e486643f6cc6c78fc90896d427169a31a95c777b698e7fc5a68634f5517d994e","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-7706","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-75-7708"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
