In this section, \"pre-effective-date financing statement\" means a financing statement filed before July 1, 2013.\n(b) Applicable law. After July 1, 2013, a person may add or delete collateral covered by, continue or terminate the effectiveness of, or otherwise amend the information provided in, a pre-effective-date financing statement only in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction governing perfection as provided in article 9 of chapter 84 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, as amended by this act. However, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement also may be terminated in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction in which the financing statement is filed.\n(c) Method of amending: General rule. Except as otherwise provided in subsection (d), if the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the information in a pre-effective-date financing statement may be amended after July 1, 2013, only if:\n(1) The pre-effective-date financing statement and an amendment are filed in the office specified in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-501, and amendments thereto;\n(2) an amendment is filed in the office specified in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-501, and amendments thereto, concurrently with, or after the filing in that office of, an initial financing statement that satisfies K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-806(c), and amendments thereto; or\n(3) an initial financing statement that provides the information as amended and satisfies K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-807(c), and amendments thereto, is filed in the office specified in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-501, and amendments thereto.\n(d) Method of amending: Continuation. If the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement may be continued only under K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-805(c) and (e), and amendments thereto, or K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-806, and amendments thereto.\n(e) Method of amending: Additional termination rule. Whether or not the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement filed in this state may be terminated after July 1, 2013, by filing a termination statement in the office in which the pre-effective-date financing statement is filed, unless an initial financing statement that satisfies K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 84-9-806(c), and amendments thereto, has been filed in the office specified by the law of the jurisdiction governing perfection as provided in article 9 of chapter 84 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, as amended by this act, as the office in which to file a financing statement.","path":["Chapter 84.—UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE","Article 9.—SECURED TRANSACTIONS"],"source_url":"https://www.ksrevisor.gov/statutes/chapters/ch84/084_009_0807.html","current_through":"2025 legislative session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T15:15:39Z","sha256":"8498006fa32fc6e10fa9d2453b1b312cc6a35f3f057cfd77672dc21646538f44","source_id":"us-ks","stale":false,"prev":"us-ks/k.s.a.-84-9-806","next":"us-ks/k.s.a.-84-9-808"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
