The court shall exercise reasonable control over the mode and\norder of interrogating witnesses and presenting evidence so as to:\n(1) Make the interrogation and presentation effective for the ascertainment of the\ntruth;\n(2) Avoid needless consumption of time; and\n(3) Protect witnesses from harassment or undue embarrassment.\n(b) Scope of cross -examination. A witness may be cross -examined on any matter\nrelevant to any issue in the case, including credibility. In the interests of justice, the\ntrial court may limit cross -examination with respect to matters not testified to on\ndirect examination.\n(c) Leading questions. Leading questions should not be used on the direct examination\nof a witness except as may be necessary to develop the witness' te stimony.\nOrdinarily leading questions should be permitted on cross -examination, but only\nupon the subject matter of the direct examination.
