{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-11.200","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 11.200","heading":"Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy -- Purpose --","body":"Membership -- Meetings -- Chief executive officer.\n(1) There is created the Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy. The\ncommission shall be a separate administrat ive body of state government within the\nmeaning of KRS 12.010(8).\n(2) It shall be the purpose of the Commission on Small Business Innovation and\nAdvocacy to:\n(a) Address matters of small business as it relates to government affairs;\n(b) Promote a cooperati ve and constructive relationship between state agencies\nand the small business community to ensure coordination and implementation\nof statewide strategies that benefit small business in the Commonwealth;\n(c) Coordinate and educate the small business commun ity of federal, state, and\nlocal government initiatives of value and importance to the small business\ncommunity;\n(d) Create a process by which the small business community is consulted in the\ndevelopment of public policy as it affects their industry sector;\n(e) Aid the small business community in navigating the regulatory process, when\nthat process becomes cumbersome, time consuming, and bewildering to the\nsmall business community; and\n(f) Advocate for the small business, as necessary when regulatory\nimplementation is overly burdensome, costly, and harmful to the success and\ngrowth of small businesses in the Commonwealth.\n(3) The Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy shall consist of\nthirteen (13) members:\n(a) Two (2) members representing each congressional district; and\n(b) One (1) at-large member.\n(4) All members shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of four (4) years, except\nthat the original appointments shall be staggered so that three (3) appointments shall\nexpire at one (1) year, three (3) appointments shall expire at two (2) years, and three\n(3) appointments shall expire at three (3) years, and four (4) appointments shall\nexpire at four (4) years from the dates of initial appointment.\n(5) The Governor shall appoint the chair and vice chair of the commission from the\nappointed membership.\n(6) The commission shall meet quarterly and at other times upon call of the chair or a\nmajority of the commission.\n(7) A quorum shall be a majority of the membership of the commission.\n(8) Members of the commission shall serve without compensation but shall be\nreimbursed for their necessary travel expenses actually incurred in the discharge of\ntheir duties on the commission, subject to Finance and Administration Cabinet\nadministrative regulations.\n(9) The executive director of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation shall be the\nadministrative head and chief executive officer of the commission. The secretary of\nthe Cabinet for Economic Development shall have authority to hire staff, contract\nfor services, expend funds, and operate the normal business act ivities of the\ncommission.\n(10) The Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy shall be\nadministratively attached to the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation within\nthe Cabinet for Economic Development.","path":["KRS Chapter 11"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53826","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:27Z","sha256":"7ac7877cd3b94d1c8cce40651ec0bf87a6dd9467284910df3ef7591b44c32866","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-11.190","next":"us-ky/krs-11.202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
