{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-11.202","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 11.202","heading":"Duties of Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy --","body":"Annual reports.\n(1) The duties of the Commission on Small Business Innovation and Advocacy shall\ninclude but not be limited to:\n(a) Coordinate and promote the awareness of the F ederal Small Business\nRegulatory Enforcement Fairness Act of 1996, and its subsequent\namendments within the small business community of the Commonwealth;\n(b) Develop a process by which the small business community is made aware of\nstate legislation and adm inistrative regulations affecting it, both prior to its\nenactment and during its implementation;\n(c) Advocate for the small business sectors when state legislation and\nadministrative regulations are overly burdensome, costly, or harmful to the\nsuccess and growth of the sector;\n(d) Collect information and research those public policies and government\npractices which are helpful or detrimental to the success and growth of the\nsmall business community; and\n(e) Review administrative regulations that may impact small business. The\ncommission may seek input from other agencies, organizations, or interested\nparties. In acting as an advocate for small business, the commission may\nsubmit a written report to the promulgating administrative body to be\nconsidered as com ments received during the public comment period required\nby KRS 13A.270(1)(c). The report may specify the commission's findings\nregarding the administrative regulation, including an identification and\nestimate of the number of small businesses subject to t he administrative\nregulation, the projected reporting, recordkeeping, and other administrative\ncosts required for compliance with the administrative regulation, and any\nsuggestions the commission has for reducing the regulatory burden on small\nbusinesses through the use of tiering or exemptions, in accordance with KRS\n13A.210. A copy of the report shall be filed with the regulations compiler of\nthe Legislative Research Commission.\n(2) By September 1 of each year, the commission shall submit a report to the Governor,\nthe Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development and Workforce Investment,\nand the Interim Joint Committee on Tourism, Small Business, and Information\nTechnology detailing its work in the prior fiscal year, including but not limited to\nthe following:\n(a) Activities and achievements of the commission in accomplishing its purposes\nand duties;\n(b) Findings of the commission related to its collection of information and\nresearch on public policies and government practices affecting small\nbusinesses, including specific legislation and administrative regulations that\nare helpful or detrimental to the success of small businesses; and\n(c) Specific recommendations of ways state government could better promote the\neconomic development efforts of small businesses in the Commonwealth.\n(3) Beginning December 1, 2012, and on every December 1 thereafter, the commission\nshall submit an annual report to the Secretary of State and the Legislative Research\nCommission setting forth an analysis of how the one -stop electronic business portal\nestablished in KRS 14.250 may be improved to make the business portal more user\nfriendly for businesses.","path":["KRS Chapter 11"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51532","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:27Z","sha256":"d81eb0d8edd4418ca62d9930f8e7509cddd2e77a1acbd9ffb4f66cad78f96b87","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-11.200","next":"us-ky/krs-11.210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
