{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-116.085","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 116.085","heading":"Transfer of registration -- Change of residence -- Notification to voters","body":"following redistricting -- Name change.\n(1) When a voter changes his place of residence to another location within the county,\nthe clerk shall, upon application of the voter in person, by mail, or through the\nTransportation Cabinet, transfer the voter's registration record to the proper\nprecinct.\n(2) When a registered voter changes his place of residence from one (1) precinct to\nanother within the same county before the registration books are closed and fails to\ntransfer his registration with the county clerk prior to the date the registration books\nare closed, the voter shall be permitted to update the voting records and to vote in\nthe present election at the appropriate  precinct for the current address upon\naffirmation of his current address and signing the precinct list as set forth in KRS\n117.225. Before being permitted to vote, the voter shall also confirm his identity as\nrequired in KRS 117.227 and complete the affid avit which is required to be\ncompleted by a voter whose right to vote has been challenged. The subscribed oaths\nshall be delivered to the county clerk and investigated in accordance with KRS\n117.245.\n(3) When a registered voter changes his place of residen ce from one (1) precinct to\nanother precinct within the same county after the registration books close, the voter\nshall be permitted to vote in the present election at the appropriate precinct for the\ncurrent address upon affirmation of his current address  and signing the precinct list\nas set forth in KRS 117.225. Before being permitted to vote, the voter shall confirm\nhis identity as required by KRS 117.227 and complete the affidavit which is\nrequired to be completed by a voter whose right to vote is chall enged. The\nsubscribed oaths shall be delivered to the county clerk and investigated in\naccordance with KRS 117.245.\n(4) (a) When the boundaries of a precinct are changed by law, placing a registered\nvoter in a new or different precinct, the clerk shall aut omatically transfer the\nvoter's registration record to the proper precinct and mail the voter a notice of\nthe change.\n(b) When the General Assembly enacts a new redistricting plan, the clerk shall\nmail each voter a notice informing the voter of his or her current district\nnumber, State Representative, and State Senator.\n(5) A voter who has changed his name may indicate the change at the precinct on\nelection day by completing the form provided for this purpose by the State Board of\nElections.
