{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-117.0552","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 117.0552","heading":"Procedure for establishing precincts.","body":"(1) As used in KRS 117.055 to 117.0555 and KRS 117.0557, \"establish a precinct\"\nshall include the following:\n(a) Creating a new precinct;\n(b) Dividing one (1) precinct into two (2) or more precincts;\n(c) Combining two (2) or more precincts into one (1) precinct; and\n(d) Altering a boundary line between two (2) or more precincts.\n(2) Each county board of elections shall establish precincts by issuing a proposed\nprecinct establishment order. Each proposed precinct establishment order shall be\nsubmitted to the executive director of the State Board of Elections for approval.\n(3) The order prescribed in subsection (2) of this section shall include:\n(a) A written description of the boundaries of each precinct to be established;\n(b) A digital precinct boundary file, su bmitted in an ESRI ArcGIS Shapefile or\nfile geodatabase format, that has been georeferenced to the Kentucky State\nPlace Coordinate System in accordance with KRS 1.020 clearly showing the\nboundaries of each precinct to be established;\n(c) The estimated numb er of registered voters in each precinct to be established;\nand\n(d) Any additional information which may be required by an administrative\nregulation adopted by the State Board of Elections under KRS Chapter 13A\nfor the purposes of assuring compliance with KRS 117.055 to 117.0555 and\nKRS 117.0557.\n(4) If a proposed precinct  establishment order includes a description of a precinct with\na boundary that follows the boundary of an entity referred to in KRS 117.0551(1),\nthe order shall include the following:\n(a) A description that precisely identifies the boundary line; and\n(b) A digital precinct boundary file of the precinct indicating that the boundary is\nthat of an entity referred to in KRS 117.0551(1) and naming the specific\nentity.\n(5) If a proposed precinct establishment order includes a description of a precinct\nboundary th at follows one or more visible features as described in KRS\n117.0551(2)(a), the order shall include:\n(a) A reference map that corresponds to a detailed description that precisely\nidentifies each feature that forms the precinct boundary; and\n(b) A digital precinct boundary file that includes the visible features.","path":["KRS Chapter 117"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55590","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:12Z","sha256":"3f379d8a9a9ca92fd4120b05de8115a2db53ecb5d93d9b3217e70b3eb77c01f8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-117.0551","next":"us-ky/krs-117.0553"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
