{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-117.165","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 117.165","heading":"Examination of voting equipment by county board -- Approval -- Who","body":"may  be present during examination.\n(1) Upon  completing the preparation of the voting systems, including any voting\nequipment in operation, in accordance with KRS  117.155, and not later than\nthe Thursday preceding the day of the election, the county clerk shall notify the\nmembers  of the county board of elections that the voting equipment is ready for\nuse. The county board of elections shall thereupon convene at the office of the\ncounty clerk, not later than the Friday preceding the day of the election, and\nexamine the voting equipment to determine whether the requirements of KRS\n117.155 have been met. The county board of elections shall publish notice, in\naccordance with KRS  424.130(1)(d), at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance\nof the time when the voting equipment is to be examined by the board. If found\nin proper order, the members  of the county board of elections shall endorse\ntheir approval in the book in which the county clerk has entered the numbers or\nthe unique designation of the voting equipment opposite the numbers of the\nprecincts. The county clerk shall then deliver all of the keys to the voting\nequipment to the county board of elections who shall give a receipt for the\nkeys. Not later than one (1) hour before the time set for the opening of the\npolls, the board shall deliver all election supplies including the precinct list,\ntabulation sheets, and the key to the device covering the registering counters\nand  other keys necessary for the operation of the voting equipment in\nregistering votes, to the election officers of the precinct in which the voting\nequipment is being used, who shall give the board a receipt of the keys. The\nkeys shall remain in the possession of the county board of elections.\n(2) Not  later than four (4) business days preceding the date set to conduct\nexcused  in-person absentee voting in accordance with KRS  117.076, the\ncounty clerk shall notify the members  of the county board of elections that the\nvoting equipment designated for use during in-person absentee voting are\nready for use. The board shall thereupon convene at the office of the county\nclerk, not later than three (3) business days preceding the date set to conduct\nexcused  in-person absentee voting, and examine the voting equipment to\ndetermine whether the requirements of KRS  117.155 have been met. The\ncounty board of elections shall publish notice, in accordance with KRS\n424.130(1)(d), at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the time when the\nabsentee voting equipment is to be examined by the board.
